Miguel Zenón and Paoli Mejias release “Tambor en Perspectiva”

A duo collaboration recorded here for the first time. The two Puerto Rican musicians, who have worked together on many occasions (most notably on a series of critically acclaimed albums by Mejias) worked on the track together from a distance; Zenon in New York City and Mejias from his home in Seattle. In reference to the composition, Zenón mentions that “the piece was originally inspired by some rhythmic cells and patterns developed by Paoli, which are used at different points during the composition. The patterns are presented form various perspectives in reference to the beat and groove, which presented a really fun platform for us to work with.”
