Steel Jazz Trio & Friends

“When one thinks of the unique sound of the steel guitar, it is of country music or perhaps early Hawaiian guitar recordings. Yet at no time during the stimulating sounds heard on Black Licorice does Brian Dumont’s playing sound reminiscent of country or even Western Swing players. Black Licorice, which is easily recommended, not only finds Brian Dumont expanding the potential of his instrument but playing top-notch modern jazz that is well worth hearing.” Scott Yanow, jazz journalist/historian and author of 11 books including The Great Jazz Guitarists, Jazz On Film and Jazz On Record 1917-76 http://www.scottyanow.com/

Steel Jazz Trio & Friends is a Jazz/Fusion group based in Long Island, New York. Original trio members are Brian Dumont (pedal steel guitar), Jared Burnett (bass), and Brandon Nichol (guitar).
